The DX3.0 is an improvement on the DX2.0, offering three channels and a four model memory, as well as the proven second generation 2.4GHz DSM (Digital Spektrum Modulation) equipped computer steering wheel radio system. As with all the Spektrum system it offers security without even having to think about it, unlike ordinary 2 channel radios.

The DX3.0 system works at 2400MHZ (2.4GHz) as opposed to the conventional 27 and 40 Mhz that has been in use for model car since it first began. With a frequency this high there are significant advantages. The lower positioned frequencies are so far away they cannot in any way interfere, or be interfered with by Spektrum. Also the ultra high frequency puts Spektrum well out of the range of model-generated radio interference like motors and ESC noise on electric powered cars and engines, clutches and bearings on gas powered cars. All the problematical issues that can now occur using 27 and 40MHz radios are completely eliminated with this radio. So it’s bye-bye interference.

Spektrum radios are smart, they are aware of what is going on around them. There’s no frequency crystals, no setting frequencies, Spektrum takes care of all of this for you. When you turn DX3.0 on it scans to find one of the 2.4GHz’s 79 channels that are free and then occupies and starts to transmit on it, meantime its bound receiver scans for the transmitter’s GUID, a unique identification code that it shares with it. When it finds this, the two lock and form a totally secure RF link. In the unlikely event of all 79 channels being occupied DX3.0 will go into hold mode where it will not transmit and interfere with any other 2.4GHz device, but continue to scan until it finds a vacant channel.

The transmitter features a clear LCD screen that allows you access to all of the functions available. Servo reverse, end point travel for both steering and throttle and digital steering and throttle trims are programmed via the digital trims, grip levers and function buttons. Four-model memory with a three-digit display is also programmed via the screen and function buttons. Although not supplied with the radio there is a charging jack already installed should you wish to power the transmitter with rechargeable batteries.

The SR 3000 receiver is a three-channel DSM receiver. When first set up it has to be bound to the receiver and when doing so failsafe settings (low throttle, left turn possibly) are set to be automatically reverted, should the signal be lost, rendering the vehicle safe and recoverable.

Two servos are included in DX3. Both are race quality and speed units however in gas car applications in particular the Z590 high torque servo is intended for use on the steering to deal with the extra forces involved.
